The Portland Trust is committed to promoting peace and stability between Palestinians and Israelis through economic development.

Tsofen

The Portland Trust is supporting the Tsofen-High Technology Centers project. Tsofen aims to accelerate and increase the level of Israeli Arab participation in the Israeli hi-tech industry.

Tsofen aims to accelerate and increase the level of Israeli Arab university graduate participation in the Israeli hi-tech industry. Tsofen opened Arab-Jewish Research and Development centres in the Galilee in 2008 that provide software development services to Israeli companies. To date, Tsofen has successfully placed 30 graduates in Israeli companies and has built a network of 250 university graduates.

Government subsidies have been secured for 2009 to provide training courses and employment benefits. Fundraising targets for 2009 from a number of private organisations including the Portland Trust have been met.
